Kansas: KC Water expands road closures along Southwest Trafficway

~ Kansas City Water Department is currently investigating the cause of a street cave-in that occurred along Southwest Trafficway. In order to ensure public safety and facilitate excavation work, additional traffic closures will be implemented on Friday morning.

As of Friday, August 28, all southbound lanes on Southwest Trafficway have been closed, along with one northbound lane between 29th Street and Interstate 35. The closure of the northbound lane may be adjusted depending on the progress of repairs and safety conditions at the site.

According to KC Water, the repairs are expected to take until Wednesday, September 2 to complete. The roadway will remain closed until the impacted area is fully restored for safe travel on Southwest Trafficway.

In light of these closures, KC Water is urging the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Drivers should also anticipate significant delays and follow all posted traffic control devices.
