Juneau: Property Owners Asked to Report Damage, Flooding from Winter Storm Disaster
EntSun News/11081652
~ Juneau Residents Urged to Report Storm Damage to CBJ
The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is requesting that residents report any damage to private or commercial property caused by the recent winter storm. The storm, which occurred from December 2025 to January 2026, brought heavy snow, ice, flooding, and snow slides to the area.
In order to better understand the scale and impact of the damage, CBJ has created an online reporting tool for residents to use. The tool can be accessed at bit.ly/cbjstormdamage and allows residents to report any damage they have experienced.
This information will be crucial in determining the need for additional recovery support. While reporting damages does not guarantee assistance, CBJ staff will be following up on reports with in-person assessments of properties if necessary.
The self-reporting tool can be completed in three simple steps. First, residents must provide the address of the impacted property and indicate whether it is residential or commercial. Then, they are asked to upload photos of the damage and provide any additional information in a designated field. Finally, contact information for the property owner must be provided so that damage assessment teams can reach out for more details if needed.

As temperatures continue to rise and more rain is expected, the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory until 9 p.m. tonight. This could result in minor flooding in low-lying areas and side streets. In response, CBJ and Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities crews are working diligently to clear storm drains as quickly as possible. Road maintenance is also being prioritized to ensure safe and passable roads.
Residents who are able to safely clear snow or ice from storm drains near their property can locate them on an interactive map available at bit.ly/cbjhydrants. This simple mitigation step can help snowmelt move away from homes and structures more efficiently.
For non-emergency flooding on or related to CBJ roads or infrastructure, residents are advised to contact the CBJ Streets & Fleet Maintenance team at (907) 586-5256 during daytime hours before 4:00 p.m. After 4:00 p.m., they can call JPD's non-emergency line at (907) 586-0400 for assistance.
To request help with clearing storm drains near their property or for assistance with the CBJ storm damage assessment form, residents can email the Emergency Response staff. The team is actively monitoring these emails and will respond promptly.
For any questions or more information, residents can contact the CBJ Emergency Programs department at (907) 586-0371. It is important for residents to report any storm damage they have experienced so that CBJ can accurately assess the situation and provide necessary support to those in need.
