InfraSound Podcast Explores the Construction Trade Nobody Talks About in New Episode

EDMONTON, Alberta - EntSun -- reVerb Communications has released Episode 4 of its infrastructure podcast InfraSound, featuring a conversation with Leland Jackman from ONEX River Inc., a 100% Indigenous-owned construction company based in Sturgeon County, Alberta.

Jackman also discusses staffing field crews, the transition from apprentice to journeyman, and why scaffolding is not a Red Seal trade in Alberta despite the skill and field engineering it demands.
The episode references the scaffolding build for the FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, which required roughly half a million pounds of material.

Scaffolding is classified as a soft trade in Canada and is not Red Seal-designated in Alberta, meaning there is no nationally standardized certification for scaffolders despite the technical demands of the work. On major industrial projects in Western Canada, scaffolding can account for 10 to 15 percent of the total project budget. The Scaffold Industry Association of Canada (www.scaffoldaccess.ca) represents the sector nationally.
