Idaho Falls: Microsurfacing to Temporarily Close Lanes Beginning Aug. 23 Throughout the City

~ Idaho Falls will see some temporary lane closures beginning on August 23 as crews begin microsurfacing several roads throughout the city. The project, which is expected to last a few days, is part of the city's efforts to preserve and maintain its roadways.

According to the Idaho Falls Public Works department, the microsurfacing work will take place on different streets each day in various neighborhoods. These include Channing Way, East 25th Street, South Capital Avenue, and Lomax Street. The schedule for the closures will depend on weather and field conditions.

Microsurfacing is a process that involves sealing cracks and preventing water damage on roads. It utilizes a mixture of polymer-modified asphalt emulsion, crushed rock, filler like cement, water, and additives to repair and improve existing surfaces. This method helps extend the life of a road and minimize the need for major reconstruction in the future.
