Idaho Falls: Grizzly Avenue to Close at Battle Creek Canal for Culvert Replacement

~ Idaho Falls - Grizzly Avenue will be temporarily closed at the Battle Creek Canal for a culvert replacement project, according to a press release from the Idaho Falls Public Works department. The closure is set to begin on Monday, March 2 and is expected to last until Friday, March 6.

The project will involve replacing the existing culvert pipe on Grizzly Avenue, which allows water to flow underneath the roadway. This replacement is necessary to ensure proper canal flow and protect the road from erosion. It will also improve long-term safety and reliability for drivers in the area.

Minor lane closures with limited impacts will occur on Monday through Wednesday, but starting at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, Grizzly Avenue will be completely closed between Claredot Drive and the entrance of Skyline High School's parking lot. This closure means that Grizzly Avenue will not be accessible across the canal.

Drivers traveling north or south on Grizzly Avenue during this time are advised to use Skyline Drive and West 17th South as a detour route. Detour signage will be in place to guide motorists. Pancheri Drive will remain open, but access to Claredot Drive from Pancheri Drive will only be available for local traffic.

Residents in the immediate area of the closure will still have access to their homes throughout construction. However, motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and exercise caution when driving near crews and equipment.
