IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho Falls City Council Changes Meeting Time to Increase Accessibility
In an effort to make city government more accessible to the public, the Idaho Falls City Council has made a significant change to its regular meeting schedule. On Thursday, Jan. 8, the council voted to move the start time of their meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This decision was made with the goal of increasing efficiency and effectiveness for both council members and community members. The new meeting time will take effect immediately, starting with the next scheduled City Council meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026.
Mayor Lisa Burtenshaw expressed her support for this change, stating that it will allow all residents to have a better opportunity to participate in decisions that impact their community. She also believes that the earlier start time will help with long agendas and make it easier for people to attend in person or follow along on the livestream.
