STRATFORD, Conn. - EntSun -- For nearly three decades, TaShun Bowden-Lewis, Esq. stood at the intersection of justice, leadership, and public service—helping shape a legal system grounded in fairness, accountability, and respect for the communities it serves. Today, she is being recognized as a Her Legacy Leaders™ Founding Cohort 2026 Honoree, celebrating women whose leadership strengthens institutions and expands opportunity for others.

Bowden-Lewis devoted almost 30 years to the Connecticut Division of Public Defender Services, where she earned a reputation as a disciplined advocate and transformative leader committed to principled service.

In 2022, she made history as the first Black Chief Public Defender for the State of Connecticut, a milestone that reflects both her extraordinary leadership and the expanding possibilities for future generations in the legal profession.

Today, Bowden-Lewis continues to advance leadership development, consulting, and education. She is the CEO and Founder of The Bowden-Lewis Consulting Group, advising organizations on building cultures rooted in accountability, purpose, and measurable impact. She has also spent nearly two decades mentoring students as an Associate Professor at Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut, helping prepare the next generation of legal and civic leaders.

Her contributions have been widely recognized across the legal community. In 2023, she was named a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, and in 2024 she received the Edwin Archer Diversity Award from Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity.
