HUNTINGDON, U.K. - EntSun -- At High5VR, we believe virtual reality has the power to improve lives far beyond entertainment.

We're proud to have contributed to the research paper "Enhancing the Aging Experience with VR360 Technology," which was presented at the International Society for Gerontechnology (ISG) conference in Germany.

The research brought together expertise from Providence University (Taiwan), Zaozhuang University (China) and High5VR Productions Ltd. (UK). The paper was co-authored by S. L. Hsu, H. M. Hua, Hannah Hayes, J. Gardner, and S. M. Wan, demonstrating the value of international collaboration in developing innovative healthcare technologies.

The presentation was put together and delivered by Tina Hua, Creative Director at High5VR, showcasing how immersive VR360 technology can support healthier ageing and improve the quality of life for older adults.

What did the research investigate?

The study explored how immersive VR360 experiences can help older adults by:
  • Stimulating memory and cognitive engagement.
  • Improving emotional well-being.
  • Reducing social isolation through shared virtual experiences.
  • Providing accessible virtual activities, including travel and immersive driving experiences.
  • Using intuitive hand-tracking technology, removing the need for traditional VR controllers.

Encouraging early findings

The initial results were extremely positive.

Participants reported feeling happier, more engaged and more connected during and after their VR experiences. Researchers also observed improvements in mood, memory recall and social interaction. Many participants particularly enjoyed experiencing places they could no longer physically visit and virtually driving cars they had always dreamed of owning. These early findings demonstrate the exciting potential of immersive VR360 technology to enhance the lives of older adults and support the future of elderly care.

As VR technology continues to evolve, High5VR remains committed to developing innovative, evidence-based immersive experiences that make a real difference across healthcare, education, training and beyond.
