Green cleaning in Leeds could save millions of litres of product and plastic waste

LEEDS, U.K. - EntSun -- Leeds workplaces could cut millions of litres of shipped cleaning fluid and keep thousands of plastic containers out of the waste stream each year by switching to sustainable cleaning products.

That is the conclusion of new analysis from Smart Cleaning, a commercial cleaning firm in Leeds, which reviewed product usage across the nearly 1 million square feet of Leeds office space and compared concentrated systems with common ready-to-use products.

Concentrates reduce the amount of chemical moved, stored, and thrown away, and they do it without compromising hygiene.

One litre of a high-performance concentrate can make up to 100 trigger bottles or 50 five-litre buckets of solution.

In practical terms, a small container replaces dozens of pre-mixed bottles, then keeps replacing them, which means fewer deliveries, fewer empties, and cleaner storerooms.

Traditional sprays and liquids are mostly water. Shipping that water around the country adds unnecessary weight, cost, and carbon.
