COLORADO SPRINGS ~ Colorado Governor Polis joined leaders from across the state in Colorado Springs today to celebrate the success of expanding recreational access to the great outdoors. During the event, Governor Polis discussed future plans to protect Colorado's open spaces.
In his speech, Governor Polis expressed his pride in Colorado's efforts to make it easier for people to enjoy the state's natural beauty. He also emphasized the importance of protecting these resources for current and future generations.
The event, which was part of Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Partners in the Outdoors Conference, brought together individuals who are passionate about preserving Colorado's outdoors, wildlife, and open spaces. This year's conference also included a Tribal Summit and marked the one-year anniversary of Colorado's Outdoors Strategy.
Dan Gibbs, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, spoke about the significance of this conference and its impact on outdoor recreation in the state. He highlighted how collaboration between different organizations is crucial in achieving resilient programs and resources that support outdoor recreation, hunting and fishing experiences, wildlife conservation, and engagement with nature.

She expressed CPW's pride in partnering with outdoor leaders across the state to protect Colorado's landscapes and wildlife. Through initiatives like Colorado's Outdoors Strategy, CPW is working towards expanding access to outdoor recreation while ensuring that parks and wildlife habitats remain healthy for future generations.

Under his leadership, significant investments have been made towards these goals through initiatives like Colorado's Outdoors Strategy. One such initiative is the Keep Colorado Wild Pass which not only generates funding for outdoor projects but also reduces pass costs by more than half.
Colorado boasts 43 state parks, 350 state wildlife areas, 45,000 miles of trails, and 23 million acres of public land. With these resources, the state is well-equipped to meet the growing demand for outdoor recreation while also preserving its natural beauty.
