~ Sacramento, CA - Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom have announced the 19th class of the California Hall of Fame, which includes leaders and luminaries in various fields such as athletics, civil rights, culinary arts, and entertainment. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the State Capitol on March 3, 2026.
The California Hall of Fame is a prestigious honor that celebrates trailblazers whose achievements embody the state's spirit of resilience and creativity. This year's class also shines a spotlight on Los Angeles as a global hub of culture and innovation.
The inductees will be formally enshrined during a ceremony at the California Museum in Sacramento on March 19, 2026. This event will celebrate their contributions to civic life, creativity, and social progress.
Among the notable inductees are John L. Burton, a lifelong public servant and legislator known for his fierce advocacy for civil rights, healthcare, and foster youth. Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis will also be honored for her five-decade career in film and television, as well as her humanitarian work and best-selling children's book authorship.

Pioneering systems scientist Riane Eisler will be recognized for her groundbreaking vision of human rights and caring societies that has influenced leaders worldwide. Olympic gold medalist Janet Evans will also join the ranks for being one of the greatest distance swimmers of all time and currently serving as Chief Athlete Officer for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Track and field legend Carl Lewis will be honored for his unmatched speed, power, and versatility that led him to nine gold medals across four Olympic Games. Mariachi Reyna de Los Ángeles will also make history as America's first all-women mariachi ensemble to be inducted into the California Hall of Fame.
