Governor Abbott Appoints Marks To Texas Council For Developmental Disabilities

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Dakota Marks to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD). Marks, a housing consultant for Solitaire Homes of Lufkin, will serve on the committee until February 1, 2031.

The TCDD is responsible for recommending changes in disability policies and programs, supporting a network of committees focused on people with disabilities, and promoting compliance with disability-related laws. Additionally, the committee issues awards to raise awareness about these issues.

Marks brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the TCDD. He is licensed by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs as a manufactured homes sales consultant. He also serves as a board member for Junior Achievement of Angelina County and the Huntington Youth Softball Association. In addition, he is an active member of various organizations such as the Lufkin Lions Club, Nacogdoches Jaycees, and both Angelina and Nacogdoches County Chambers of Commerce.

Prior to his current role, Marks served in the Texas Army National Guard for four years. With his diverse background and dedication to serving his community, Marks is well-equipped to contribute to the important work of the TCDD.
