EntSun News/11093709
~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) revealed that $40.8 million in Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA) grants will be distributed to 160 organizations across the state. These grants, approved by TVC Commissioners last week, are aimed at providing direct services to veterans and their families.
According to Governor Abbott, this funding is crucial in supporting the brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform. He stated, "Through this more than $40 million in state grants, we strengthen services for Texas veterans, their families and surviving spouses, while we empower local organizations to provide critical care and support across our great state."
The impact of these grants is expected to be significant as they are estimated to serve over 125,698 veterans and family members statewide. TVC Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner also emphasized the importance of these grants, stating that tens of thousands of veterans and their families receive vital services from the organizations that receive funding.
The FVA grants will support a variety of services including assistive technology, clinical counseling, elder care, family and child support services, financial assistance, food meal services, homeless services, home modification and repair, non-clinical mental health services, pro bono legal services, trade skills training services, transportation services, service dog programs for veterans, veteran treatment courts and veterinary care for veterans.
