Governor Abbott Announces $149 Million Cybersecurity Grant To Texas Tech University

~ In a strategic move to safeguard the nation and its critical infrastructure, Governor Greg Abbott has announced that his Public Safety Office (PSO) has awarded $149 million to Texas Tech University. This investment will support the development of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) testing site and cybersecurity infrastructure enhancements.
According to Governor Abbott, this significant investment in cybersecurity will ensure that Texas' critical infrastructure systems are capable of withstanding attacks from hostile foreign adversaries. He believes that this investment will further strengthen cutting-edge initiatives at Reese National Security Complex, ultimately protecting critical infrastructure and strengthening the nation's defense capabilities.
Senator Charles Perry echoed similar sentiments, stating that this investment solidifies Texas Tech's role as a national leader in protecting critical infrastructure from emerging threats. He also highlighted Lubbock's reputation for hard work and innovation, stating that the EMP testing site positions West Texas at the forefront of defending electric grids, water systems, and military assets.
