Gov. Kemp: Power Grid Technology Leader Breaks Ground in West Georgia

ATLANTA ~ Governor Brian P. Kemp of Georgia has announced that PFIFFNER Group, a leading international technology solutions company for energy, will be investing an estimated $18.5 million in a new manufacturing facility in Franklin, Georgia. This investment is expected to create up to 60 new full-time jobs in Heard County over the next decade.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility was held today and was attended by local leadership and company executives. Governor Kemp expressed his excitement about PFIFFNER Group joining the growing list of international businesses choosing to create jobs in Georgia.

He stated, "This particular project will not only add to our strong manufacturing sector, it will also produce critical infrastructure for power generation, ensuring our state has a reliable energy grid for years to come."

PFIFFNER Group, based in Switzerland, specializes in developing, producing, and designing solutions for transmission and distribution systems, power generation, and railway electrification. Their solutions and services are used by utility companies, power equipment industries, and energy facilities to measure, switch, test, and reliably transfer electricity up to 550kV.

Marcel Rüfenacht, CEO of PFIFFNER Group stated that the decision to expand in the United States was due to modernizations and innovation across the electricity grid technology industry. He also mentioned that Georgia stood out as an ideal location for their new production facility due to its proximity to customers, strong infrastructure, supportive business environment, quality education system, and an available site that fit their company's needs.

The new facility will be located at Franklin Industrial Park East on Highway 34 in Franklin and is expected to begin operations in 2027. It will supply instrument transformers for high-voltage substations and transformer bushings for manufacturers and utilities.

PFIFFNER Group will be hiring for various roles such as electromechanical assembly workers, machinists, machine operators as well as electrical and mechanical engineers over the next few years. Interested individuals can learn more about job opportunities at PFIFFNER Group's website.

The Mayor of Franklin, Kevin Hayes, expressed his excitement about the partnership between the City of Franklin and PFIFFNER Moser-Glaser. He stated, "This partnership means more than new buildings or new jobs. Kathy Knowles, executive director of the Development Authority of Heard County, also expressed her gratitude towards PFIFFNER Moser-Glaser for choosing to invest in their community. She mentioned that their investment reflects their commitment to sustainable growth and positive community impact.

Katie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, welcomed PFIFFNER Group as part of their dynamic and growing cleantech ecosystem. She also highlighted how locating in Heard County will allow them to take full advantage of the global connectivity offered by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Global Commerce team was represented by Senior Project Manager Mellissa Takeuchi in partnership with the Development Authority of Heard County, Electric Cities of Georgia, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and the State of Georgia Europe Office.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson expressed his excitement about PFIFFNER Group's decision to invest in Georgia and congratulated Heard County, the City of Franklin, and their partners for creating new opportunities through this project.

With this investment from PFIFFNER Group, Georgia continues to strengthen its relationships with international companies and attract world-class businesses that are advancing energy and e-mobility technology.
