Garcia Can Choose The Country For His Deportation
EntSun News/11070715
How He And The U.S. Can Now Resolve This Escalating Situation
WASHINGTON - EntSun -- Kilmar Abrego Garcia - who is facing felony charges which, if convicted, could put him behind bars for many years, who claims to fear harm if he is deported to some 22 mostly Spanish-speaking countries, and is now facing forced deportation to a primitive country in Africa where cannibalism is reportedly a risk - could avoid these threats, and even get to decide to which country he is to be deported, says public interest law professor.
Banzhaf, who has explained how the U .S. could have easily avoided most of the adverse publicity involving its dealings with him, as well as preventing him from ever setting foot again on U.S. soil as it had promised, -

points out the Garcia is apparently now in a position to elect to use the self- or voluntary deportation option to a country of his choice.
Under this government program which can be employed using a government app (https://www.dhs.gov/cbphome), Garcia could receive:
■ Free one-way transportation to a (presumably Spanish speaking) country of his choice
■ Forgiveness for "failure to depart" fines of $500/day (after inflation $998/day) AND

■ Even a $1,000 "exit bonus" if he departs through the program
In this way he could choose to go to virtually any country without having to plead guilty to a felony which is a condition of the government's current offer, rather than being involuntarily deported to Eswatini in Africa, or to countries where he says he fears for his safety including Uganda, El Salvador, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.
In addition to these advantages to Garcia if he elects to utilize self deportation, rather than face trial and/or involuntary departure to a country not of his choosing, the government would no longer have him on U.S. soil (where the U.S. claims he would post a risk), and it would avoid the adverse publicity of a trial and/or immigration hearing; including various (arguably delaying) appeals of any decision adverse to his interests, says Banzhaf.
The U.S. government has already made several very embarrassing mistakes in dealing with this one individual who has become a cause celeb in some circles, notes Banzhaf, who suggests that it's time to rid itself of this nuisance by proposing voluntary deportation to Garcia.
