Gambian Films Earn Prestigious Selection at Ohio Valley Festival for Filmmakers of Color

Muhammed Dibbasey, a talented 25 year old, Gambian Spoken Word Poet, is the creative force behind the films "They Say" and "Sleepless Nights" which are to be screen at the festival.
SAN DIEGO - EntSun -- MaximillianGroup is delighted to announce that our films "They Say" and "Sleepless Nights" have been chosen as select films for the Ohio Valley Festival for Filmmakers of Color, presented by YWCA Wheeling. This is the 14th Film Festival for these two less than four minute short films.
The Ohio Valley Festival, hosted by YWCA Wheeling, is a week-long celebration of creative amateur filmmakers from Wheeling, WV, and surrounding areas. This exclusive event, scheduled from January 13 to January 20, 2023, will showcase a curated selection of films, and both "They Say" and "Sleepless Nights" have earned their place among the distinguished few.

Venue: Young Woman's Christian Association (YWCA) Wheeling
Admission: Free and open to the public

The festival kicks off with a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging the audience to mingle and enjoy refreshments. The screening of selected films, including "They Say," and "Sleepless Nights". Each director or creative team will personally introduce their films before the screening. After the show, the audience is invited to contribute donations to their preferred films, directors, or creative teams through the gallery of movie poster displays.
"In Gambia, where the cinematic landscape is still budding, filmmakers face the exciting challenge of pioneering a vibrant film community. Without a centralized hub, creativity flourishes organically, reflecting the raw authenticity of Gambian narratives. In the absence of a formal film hub, Gambia's filmmakers draw inspiration from the rich cultural tapestry, weaving stories that resonate both locally and on the global stage," says Max Barrett, Founder, CEO at MaximillianGroup.
Muhammed Dibbasey and his peers embody the spirit of innovation, crafting cinematic stories that echo the pulse of the nation. These films have garnered attention and recognition at an additional 13 film festival in the United States, United Kingdom, Pakastan, South Africa, Nigeria, The Edo State of Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Russia esteemed film festivals, showcasing the unique storytelling and artistic prowess of Dibbasey. San Diego based MaximillianGroup and Gambian based Cellular Vibrations produced the films with Muhammed Dibbasey directing.
