England's Dyscalculia Network Joins Global Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Federation

SARASOTA, Fla. - EntSun -- The International Federation of Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Associations (IFDDA) has admitted The Dyscalculia Network CIC of England as its newest member organization.

Dyscalculia is in the name of the federation, but worldwide it remains the quieter half. Dyslexia has associations, awareness weeks, and specialist teachers in most countries. Dyscalculia rarely does. That is why this membership carries particular weight for the federation.

The Dyscalculia Network was founded in 2019 by Cat Eadle and Rob Jennings, two math teachers and specialists in learning difficulties. It is a not-for-profit community interest company, run by volunteers, that supports and advocates for children and adults with dyscalculia and math learning difficulties. Its patron is Baroness Deborah Bull.

Much of the Network's work is aimed at adults, an area where support usually ends with school. The organization runs an Adults with Dyscalculia Advisory Board made up of people who live with dyscalculia themselves, and their experience shapes what the Network does. It also operates the United Kingdom's only dedicated directory of dyscalculia specialist assessors and tutors, provides training for schools, workplaces, and community organizations, campaigns for better provision for children and adults, and established two annual awareness days that are now fixed points in the calendar: Dyscalculia Day on March 3 and Maths Anxiety Awareness Day on November 10.

IFDDA members exchange knowledge, methods, and experience across borders. With The Dyscalculia Network, the federation gains a partner with deep practical expertise in math learning difficulties and a working model for adult support that other member organizations can draw on.

IFDDA is a non-profit federation incorporated in Florida, USA, active since 2011. Its members are national and regional non-profit organizations working on dyslexia and dyscalculia. Membership is free for non-profit organizations, which can apply at ifdda.org.
