GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - March 14, 2019 - EntSun -- Anima - Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus is proud to announce Tim Takach as guest clinician for the 2019 "Lift our Song!" SingFest. This annual community engagement event features an inspiring day of workshops, singing, and activities for teachers and their students grades 4-9. The event will be held Saturday, April 13 at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Road (near the intersection of Roosevelt and York Roads) in Elmhurst IL.

During an intensive day of learning for children, guest clinician Tim Takach, an award-winning Minneapolis-based composer, will prepare students for the world premiere of his Anima-commissioned piece, "We Come From the Music". According to Takach, the piece, which features lyrics by hip-hop and spoken word artist Desdamona, uses elements of percussive singing and body percussion and "…talks about how music is inside of us, wanting to get out. Music and rhythm are with us since birth and accompany us throughout our lives."

Teachers will participate in a separate track of professional development workshops, with networking and shared learning opportunities, led by Takach and Charles Sundquist, Anima's Artistic Director.

The world premiere of Takach's "We Come From the Music" composition will be performed by all SingFest participants during a festival concert culminating the event. The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church and is open to the public, free of charge.
