Columbia: Weekly recycling collection to begin June 15
EntSun News/11092729
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility has announced that they will be implementing a new weekly collection schedule for recyclable materials starting Monday, June 15. This change will allow residential customers with curbside collection services to place their recycling out on their designated trash collection day each week.
Previously, residential curbside collection occurred every other week. However, due to an increase in staffing within the Solid Waste Utility, the City is now able to resume weekly service for these customers.
The City would like to remind residents that they should continue using the blue recycling bags for specific items such as plastic bottles (such as soft drink, water or soda bottles), plastic containers (such as detergent, milk or shampoo bottles), aluminum beverage cans, and metal food cans. Mixed fibers, including cardboard, newspaper and office paper, should be bundled in a box or paper bag for collection.

It is important to note that glass is not accepted in blue bags as it can negatively impact the quality of the recyclable material. Residents are advised to throw glass in the trash instead.
To make it easier for residents to keep track of their trash schedule and receive collection notifications, the CoMo Recycle and Trash app is available for both Android and Apple phones.
