Columbia: Solid Waste Utility hosts recycling drop-off event

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility is organizing a recycling drop-off event on Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Grissum Building located at 1313 Lakeview Street. This event aims to encourage residents to properly dispose of their recyclable materials.

Residents are invited to drive into the parking lot west of the Grissum Building and drop off their materials. Trained staff will be present to assist in sorting and placing the materials into the appropriate containers. It is requested that residents separate their materials by type, using mixed containers and mixed fibers.

In addition to mixed fibers and containers, glass bottles and jars will also be collected for recycling. However, it should be noted that only glass containers will be accepted at this event.

Accepted mixed containers include plastic bottles and containers marked as 1 or 2 with screw-on lids, aluminum cans, and metal food cans. On the other hand, accepted mixed fibers include cardboard, newspaper, and office paper.
