Columbia Police respond to assault on North College Avenue

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police officers responded to a call for an assault investigation on June 3 at approximately 11:10 a.m. in the 1200 block of North College Avenue. The officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of threats made by Brandon L. Shoupe, a 43-year-old resident of Columbia.
According to the investigation, Shoupe had made threats to harm himself, family members, and his employees. He also threatened to harm law enforcement officers if they attempted to apprehend him. As a result, Columbia Police Street Crimes detectives were called in to assist with locating Shoupe.
Utilizing the FLOCK camera system, detectives were able to locate Shoupe in the area of U.S. 63 and Conley Road. They conducted a traffic stop and Shoupe attempted to flee but was eventually taken into custody. During the arrest, officers found Shoupe in possession of two firearms and a substance suspected to be a controlled substance.

Shoupe now faces multiple charges including fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree domestic violence, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, delivery of a controlled substance, and felony resisting arrest.
