Columbia Police arrest suspect May 29 for road rage incident involving shots fired on Clark Lane

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police Officers responded to a report of a road rage incident involving shots fired on May 26 in the 3200 block of Clark Lane. The incident, which occurred in Columbia, Missouri, did not result in any injuries.
Thanks to the use of camera systems, including Flock Safety cameras, Columbia Police Street Crimes detectives were able to identify the suspect involved in the road rage incident. After further investigation, it was determined that the suspect resided in Moberly. A joint effort between the Columbia Police Department, Moberly Police Department, and Randolph County Sheriff's Department led to an arrest warrant and search warrant being obtained for the suspect.
On May 29, with assistance from the Columbia Police Vice, Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, Moberly Police Department and Randolph County Sheriff's Department, the Columbia Police Department's SWAT Team served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of College Avenue in Moberly. As a result of this operation, Robert Neese Jr., 49 years old from Moberly, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Assistant Chief Lance Bolinger of the Columbia Police Department stated that Neese's arrest is connected to another shots-fired incident that occurred in Jefferson City. He credited technology and collaboration with neighboring agencies for making arrests possible in both cases. Bolinger also emphasized how advancements in technology have greatly improved their ability to solve crimes like these.
"This is an ongoing investigation," Bolinger added. "We urge anyone with information about this incident to contact us at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-8477."
According to Missouri statutes 565.050 - Assault in the first degree, 571.015 - Armed criminal action and 571.030 - Unlawful use of a weapon are all applicable charges for Neese's actions. If anyone has information that leads to an arrest, they may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
The Columbia Police Department is grateful for the support and cooperation of the community and neighboring law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat gun violence. They continue to encourage anyone with information about this incident or any other criminal activity to come forward and assist in keeping their community safe.
