Colorado Springs: Marksheffel Road overnight closure planned for Monday night
EntSun News/11084421
~ Colorado Springs - Marksheffel Road will be temporarily closed for drainage work starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16. The closure will stretch from south of Tarren Heights to north of Stetson Hills Boulevard and is expected to last until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
According to city officials, some construction noise can be expected during the overnight operation. In addition to the road closure, crews will also be working overnight on Monday to shift the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Marksheffel Road into a new traffic pattern.
This change is necessary in order to create work areas at each of the four corners for road construction and traffic signal installation. However, all traffic movements will remain available at the intersection.
Drivers should be prepared for lane closures, flaggers, and uniformed traffic control during the overnight operation. On Tuesday, Feb. 17, flaggers will alternate traffic through a single lane on Marksheffel Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while crews place asphalt over the pipe installed during the previous night.

City officials are advising drivers to use caution while traveling through the work zone and follow posted detour signs. The signed detour route will direct Marksheffel Road travelers to use Peterson Road, Dublin Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard.
Tarren Heights will only provide access to local neighborhoods and does not connect to other suitable streets for a detour.
The project is weather-dependent and may cause changes in the schedule. The city's priority is improving the existing two-lane section of Marksheffel Road between North Carefree Circle and Dublin Boulevard.
Once completed, this corridor improvement project will result in two lanes in each direction with a center median, improved drainage, and new sidewalks and paths.
For more information on this project or any updates on road closures or traffic pattern changes, residents can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/Marksheffel or text IMPROVE to 866-762-3640 for text alerts. The project hotline (719-645-4055) is also available for any inquiries.
