~ Colorado Springs Police Department Issues Over 370 Citations for Expired Vehicle Registrations
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) recently conducted a community-wide vehicle registration enforcement surge from April 5 to April 11, 2026. The results of this operation have been totaled, with CSPD issuing a total of 371 citations for registration-related violations.
This enforcement effort was carried out in collaboration with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol, Monument Police Department, Fountain Police Department, and Palmer Lake Police Department. The focus of the operation was to identify expired and unregistered vehicles throughout Colorado Springs and the greater Pikes Peak region.
During the week-long surge, CSPD officers took a zero-tolerance approach towards registration violations. This was done in accordance with Colorado law which requires all vehicles to display valid license plates and current registration.

CSPD Chief Adrian Vasquez expressed his gratitude towards the drivers in the community who consistently follow the law and keep their vehicle registrations up to date. He also emphasized the importance of compliance with registration laws for fairness among all drivers and for the safety and infrastructure of the community.
The department will be evaluating the effectiveness of this surge by analyzing citation data and compliance trends. This will help determine future enforcement strategies.
In light of this recent enforcement effort, CSPD would like to remind all community members to ensure their vehicle registrations are current and properly displayed. Residents can visit the Colorado Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles website for information on renewing or registering their vehicles at https://dmv.colorado.gov/.
