Colorado Springs Airport Monthly Update — April 2026
EntSun News/11093620
~ Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has reported positive passenger activity for the month of April 2026, with a 0.6 percent increase in enplanements compared to the same period last year. This growth can be attributed to the efforts of American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Allegiant Air, all of which saw an increase in demand for their flights. The overall load factor for airlines serving COS also improved, reaching 76.2 percent compared to 73.7 percent in April 2025.
One airline that stood out in terms of performance was Allegiant Air, which recorded a load factor of 81.5 percent in April. This indicates a steady demand for their flights and reflects the ongoing travel demand in the region. Despite modest changes in seat capacity and operations, COS has maintained consistent performance, showcasing the resilience of the airport and its ability to meet the needs of travelers.
In addition to these positive developments, there have been notable updates at COS in May. On May 12th, NASA's ER2 aircraft departed from the airport to support the U.S. Geological Survey's largest-ever airborne hyperspectral survey. This highlights COS's role as a hub for important scientific research.

On May 21st, COS also hosted an exhibition titled "Inflight Dining: In Consideration of the Airline Meal" in partnership with Cottonwood Center for the Arts. The event showcased works by local artists and engaged passengers in a unique way.
The progress on ElevateCOS Concourse Modernization is also worth noting. The Dormakaba exit lane breach control (ELBC) system is now operational and being used at COS. This system allows passengers to exit while preventing unauthorized re-entry without TSA clearance, ensuring safety and security at the airport.
Looking ahead to June, there are exciting developments at COS with a total of 1,220 flights and 133,135 seats scheduled to depart to 15 different airports in 12 different cities. This includes twice-weekly service to PIE and the resumption of twice-weekly service to AZA on October 17th. However, due to increased fuel prices, SNA service will be paused from August 8th to October 1st.

Passengers can also look forward to up to six daily flights to DFW with extensive domestic and international connections, once-daily service to ORD, twice-daily service to ATL and SLC, and daily service to MSP resuming on June 7th. Additionally, there will be four-times-weekly service to SAN, up to twice-daily service to DAL, up to four-times-daily service to DEN, once-daily service to HOU, and up to three-times-daily service to both LAS and PHX.
The seasonal SAT service will resume on November 21st with up to 12 daily flights to DEN. There will also be twice-daily service to IAH and ORD. These developments demonstrate the airport's commitment towards providing a wide range of flight options for travelers.
Overall, Colorado Springs Airport has shown promising growth in April and continues its efforts towards modernization and providing a diverse range of flight options for passengers. With these developments in place, COS is well-positioned as a key player in the aviation industry.
