SARASOTA ~ During the 2026 NLGA Spring Business Meeting, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera proudly accepted the NLGA STEM Scholarship on behalf of Liberty Point International Middle School in Pueblo West, Colorado. This prestigious scholarship program awarded 12 schools from 12 different states and territories with up to $1,000 each for STEM-related curriculum, equipment, and projects.

Liberty Point International Middle School stood out among the other recipients due to their exceptional rocketry program. The school's program will provide students with hands-on experience through a mock mission to Mars, allowing them to learn about Colorado's thriving aerospace industry. This mock mission will serve as a semester capstone for 7th and 8th grade students in the school's Flight & Space Classes.

According to Lt. Governor Primavera, "These students are gaining valuable skills at a truly exciting moment. Colorado is home to the largest private aerospace economy per capita in the nation." She also emphasized the importance of programs like Liberty Point's rocketry curriculum in ensuring that the pipeline of talent continues to grow and reflect the diversity of Colorado's population. By investing in STEM education in communities like Pueblo, Lt. Governor Primavera believes that they are not just teaching students about rockets but also opening doors to careers in an industry that is shaping Colorado's future.
