Colorado: Governor Polis Signs Bills Into Law Administratively

DENVER ~ Denver - In a move to address various issues and concerns in the state, Governor Polis signed multiple bills into law today. These bills were sponsored by various representatives and senators and aim to bring about positive changes in different areas.

One of the bills signed by the governor is HB26-1123, which aims to prevent sexual abuse in jails. This bill was sponsored by Representatives Katie Stewart and Javier Mabrey, as well as Senators Judy Amabile and Mike Weissman. It seeks to protect inmates from any form of sexual abuse while they are incarcerated.

Another bill that was signed is HB26-1268, which focuses on renewable energy development on disturbed lands. This bill was sponsored by Representatives Karen McCormick and Lesley Smith, along with Senator William Lindstedt. This bill, sponsored by Representative Anthony Hartsook, House Majority Leader Monica Duran, and Senators Dylan Roberts and Senate Assistant Minority Leader Lisa Frizell, addresses the criminal offense of assault. It seeks to strengthen laws against assault in the state.
