Colorado: Governor Polis Announces Clemency Actions

EntSun News/11092364
DENVER ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Jared Polis of Denver has granted clemency to 44 individuals, including 35 pardons and 9 commutations. This decision comes after careful consideration and review of each individual's case, taking into account input from victims, family members, law enforcement, and those in the justice system.

The power of clemency is not one that the Governor takes lightly. In his statement, he acknowledges the gravity of this responsibility and its potential to change lives by granting second chances to those who have made grave mistakes. He also acknowledges that this power can sometimes be controversial.

Among those granted commutations are Joseph Aguayo, Matthew Aldaz, Eugene Gilbert, Conrad Harrell, Brandin Kreuzer, Mondo Moralez, Tina Peters, Richard Sandbom, and Wendell Weaver. A commutation changes a prison sentence for these individuals.
