City Seeks Community Members Interested in Preparing Statements 'For' and 'Against' Proposition 1, the 'Connect Tacoma: Safe Streets and Sidewalks' Ballot Measure

~ The City Clerk's Office is currently seeking volunteers from the community to serve on committees for the upcoming August 4, 2026 Primary Election. These committees will be responsible for preparing statements "For" and "Against" Proposition 1 - the Connect Tacoma: Safe Streets and Sidewalks ballot measure.
Individuals who are interested in serving on these committees must submit a letter to the City Clerk's Office by noon on April 20, 2026. The letter should include the individual's full name, home address (note: individuals must reside within Tacoma city limits), which side they are advocating for, and why they would like to serve.

Letters of interest can be sent via email to cityclerk@tacoma.gov or mailed to the Tacoma City Clerk's Office at 747 Market Street, Room 220, Tacoma, WA 98402.
The Government Performance and Finance Committee of the City Council will review all letters of interest at their meeting on April 21, 2026 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format at the Tacoma Municipal Building and via Zoom at zoom.us/j/84416690206 (meeting ID: 844 1669 0206, passcode: 614650).
The statements prepared by both the "For" and "Against" committees will appear in the Voters' Pamphlet and must be submitted to the Pierce County Auditor by May 5, 2026. Rebuttal statements are due by May 7, 2026.
