City of Spokane Receives $1 Million in Wildfire Housing Assistance
EntSun News/11100429
~ Spokane, WA - The City of Spokane has recently announced that it has received a generous amount of $1 million in Wildfire Housing Assistance Funds from the Washington State Department of Commerce. This funding will be used to support residents who have been impacted by and/or evacuated during the devastating Spokane Complex Fire.
According to Erin Hut, the Communications Director for the city, this funding will be passed through to residents in need through Goodwill Industries. The funds will be allocated towards rental assistance, utilities, and leasing costs. In addition, there is also flexible funding available for resources such as medical devices, furniture, and gas.
The eligibility criteria for this assistance has been expanded to include residents with a household income at or below 120% of the Area Median Income. This means that households with an income between $90,000-$108,000 for a family of three are now eligible to receive this aid. This decision was made after gathering information from the Disaster Assistance Center and working closely with the Department of Commerce.
