City of Columbia receives Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia has once again been recognized for its outstanding financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the city with the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2025.
The PAFR Award is given to governments that excel in providing easily accessible and understandable financial information to their residents. Judges evaluate each eligible report based on categories such as reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity, and other elements.
The Popular Annual Financial Report is a condensed version of the city's comprehensive financial report and aims to summarize the government's financial activities. It includes a portion of information from the 2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

Director of Finance Mathew Lue expressed his pride in receiving this award, stating that it highlights the city's commitment to maintaining high standards and transparency in its budgeting process. He also credited the hard work of the city's finance staff for making this achievement possible.
In addition to receiving the PAFR Award, the City of Columbia also maintains its status as a GFOA Triple Crown Winner. This prestigious recognition is given to governments that have received GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
