After his speech, Mayor Johnson took questions from reporters on topics such as enforcing measures to resist federal overreach, the impact of recent killings by federal agents in Minnesota, and advice for local leaders who fear retaliation from the Trump administration.
In response to a question about fighting against injustice and setbacks, Mayor Johnson stated, "It is always better off having fought and experienced setbacks than having not fought at all and losing our ability to resist." He urged Americans to never surrender when it comes to securing justice for working people.
Later in the day, Mayor Johnson participated in a panel discussion titled "New Approaches to Reducing Violent Crime" with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.
