California Man With Dementia Walks Out of Home...And Vanishes

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - EntSun -- Lawrence "Larry" Atchison has been missing since February 27th, 2023, and the police are desperately seeking anyone with information. Larry walked out of his home in the neighborhood of Bennett Valley, Santa Rosa, CA, and he has not been seen since.

"This is the longest search we've had in years," said Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputy Rob Dillion. "We don't have any information as to where he might be, or where he's gone. We have nothing now going into our third week".

The family is seeking donations that will aid in the efforts to feed and assist family members and volunteers. Working at a command center, established for around-the-clock printing materials, supplies, coordination of legal and investigative professionals, and other aid. According to the the Alzheimer's Association more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million. 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. In 2020, COVID-19 contributed to a 17% increase in Alzheimer's and dementia deaths.

The family held vigil in the rain Sunday, March 12th, 2023, in Santa Rosa, California. Several hundred people showed up to pay their respects and to show interest in this mystery.

Larry was diagnosed with dementia approximately three years ago. He is married to Cecila Mariana Atchison who is tirelessly involved in the search taking place 24/7.

"How can a man walk out of his home in such a denince populated neighborhood, and only gets captured by one home surveillance camera". said Larry's son-in-law and New York City iHeart radio personality Sean "Hollywood" Hamilton. "With such a tragic aliment, he's still always smiling and never heard him once complain about what he was facing. Our family is determined to find him".
