Boston: Traffic Advisory for June 15, 2026
EntSun News/11094838
~ As the summer season approaches, the city of Boston is gearing up for a series of exciting events that will bring thousands of people to its streets. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety for all attendees, the Boston Transportation Department (BTD) has released an updated traffic advisory for these events.
One of the major events taking place is the annual JP Morgan Corporate Challenge Road Race on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. This popular race will see approximately 7,000 participants running and walking along a course that starts and ends on Charles Street between Boylston Street and Beacon Street. To accommodate this event, parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Wednesday on several streets including Arlington Street, Beacon Street, Boylston Street, Charles Street South, Charles Street, and Commonwealth Avenue.
Another event that will draw large crowds is the Fan Fest at Boston City Hall Plaza from Friday, June 12 to Saturday, June 27. This event is being held in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup and will feature various activities for fans to enjoy. To ensure safety during this event, temporary parking restrictions will be in place on New Chardon Street.

For those planning to attend the FIFA World Cup match between Norway and Iraq at Boston Stadium on Tuesday, June 16, it is important to note that the MBTA will implement a Traffic Management Plan. This plan includes closing Summer Street from Purchase Street at Dewey Square to Dorchester Avenue at 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Temporary traffic and parking restrictions will also be in place on Summer Street, Atlantic Ave, and Essex Street.
In addition to these events in downtown Boston, there are also updates for those traveling through Roslindale. The Canterbury Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Friday September 12 until further notice due to findings from a recent bridge inspection. Pedestrian access will still be available but drivers are advised to follow the designated detour route.
To ensure a smooth and safe experience for all attendees, the BTD advises people to walk, bike, or take public transit to these events. Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website and information on the MBTA can be found online. The MBTA also advises riders to purchase a round-trip ticket for a faster return trip. Walking is also a great way to move around and enjoy the city.
It is important for those attending these events to pay attention to posted signs and variable message boards as there may be changes made by the Boston Police Department (BPD) and BTD. Drivers are reminded to expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution when traveling through affected areas. Let's all work together to make these summer events in Boston a success!
