Boston Scientific to host health series in STEM City USA

Monthly seminars will include topics around the lack of diversity in clinical trials, obesity and its impact in the Black community, as well as other health issues including mental health and physical fitness.

BALTIMORE - EntSun -- Career Communications Group (CCG) is proud to announce that Boston Scientific Corporation will be hosting their "Healthy Doses" seminars on the STEM City USA Platform starting on Oct. 1.

Deepa D., director of global supply chain and leads demand planning for the pain management business at Boston Scientific, will be moderating the event. The first out of the monthly series of seminars will be held at the La Familia Wellness Center of the Boston Scientific Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 1, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.

STEM City is a platform that helps promote the growth and flourishment of underrepresented communities by providing opportunities to network and receive information which is essential to the advancement of the community. This platform will serve as a medium to provide healthy living tips and advice to attendees during the recurring events.

"There are health-related issues minority communities aren't very aware of and CCG is excited to provide a platform for Boston Scientific to educate these communities," Tyrone Taborn, CEO of Career Communications Group, said.

Monthly seminar topics will range from physical fitness and wellness to mental health and will provide solutions for healthy lifestyles. Boston Scientific is a manufacturer of medical devices used in interventional medical specialties, including interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral interventions, neuromodulation, neurovascular intervention, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, endoscopy, oncology, urology, and gynecology.

The expert panel includes Dr. Nilesh Patel, chief medical officer for neuromodulation and vice president for medical affairs, Dr. Kapil Gupta, senior medical director of medical affairs for Boston Scientific Endoscopy, Dr. Michael Jaff, vice present for clinical affairs and peripheral intervention, and Camille Chang Gilmore, vice president of human resources (HR) and global chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer.

Dr. Patel will speak on pain and the lack of diversity in clinical trials, Dr. Gupta will focus on obesity and its impact on the Black community, Dr. Jaff will discuss blocked arteries, and Gilmore will talk about COVID-19 and the Black experience.
