Boston: Mayor Michelle Wu and Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement Announce 2026 Mayor's Youth Summit
EntSun News/11084385
~ Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the City's Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement (OYEA) have announced that free tickets are now available for the highly anticipated 2026 Mayor's Youth Summit (MYS). This annual event celebrates the contributions of young people to Boston's vibrant culture and will be held on Saturday, February 21 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Artists For Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston.
The MYS is a citywide celebration that brings together youth, city leaders, and community partners to showcase the talents and voices of Boston's young people. This year's summit is expected to draw a crowd of 600 attendees, with free tickets available for both youth and youth-serving community partners.
Mayor Wu expressed her excitement for this year's summit, stating, "Boston's youth shape the culture and energy of our city, and the Mayor's Youth Summit is an opportunity to celebrate all they contribute." She also highlighted the event as a chance for young people to connect with city leaders, showcase their talents, and have fun with their peers.
In preparation for the 2026 Summit, OYEA hosted feedback sessions with various youth programs across Boston. These sessions gathered input from young people on event timing, designs, performances, and food in order to ensure that the summit reflects their interests and continues its legacy of centering youth voices.

Pedro Cruz, Executive Director of OYEA, emphasized the importance of this event in celebrating the creativity, leadership, and voice of young people in Boston. "This event gives young people a stage to perform and share their art while building meaningful connections with peers from every neighborhood," he said. "We are proud to create a space where youth are seen, heard, and empowered to shape the cultural and civic life of our city."
The MYS was re-established as an annual occurrence in 2024 after a 20-year hiatus, and the 2025 summit marked its second year back. Last year's event drew nearly 500 attendees who enjoyed food, games, and music.
This year's summit will continue the tradition of live performances from youth organizations such as Beat the Odds, Boston Music Project, Teen Empowerment, and Community Music Center of Boston. The newly-named Youth Poet Laureate will also deliver a spoken word performance. Mayor Wu will serve as keynote speaker, with Amanda Shea returning as host and DJ WhySham providing music.
José F. Massó, Chief of Human Services for the City of Boston, expressed his gratitude for being part of a team that creates a space to celebrate the incredible talent and brilliance of Boston's youth. "I look forward to another fun and exciting Youth Summit," he said.

In addition to performances and speeches, the City will also present two awards at this year's summit: the Youth Leader Award and Youth Organization Award. The former will honor two Boston residents between the ages of 14 and 19 who demonstrate exceptional leadership among their peers or a commitment to civic engagement. The latter will recognize an organization that shows dedication to empowering and supporting Boston's youth.
Boston Children's Hospital is one of the many partners supporting this event. Shari Nethersole, MD, Vice President for Community Health and Engagement at Boston Children's Hospital, stated their pride in collaborating with the City to invest in young people. "We support the Mayor's Youth Summit because it puts youth at the center of its platform," she said. "This encourages civic engagement and creates opportunities for youth to thrive in Boston."
Attendees at this year's summit can expect to receive branded tote bags, stickers, sweatshirts, as well as have a chance to win backpacks from Sprayground and tickets to see the Boston Red Sox. There will also be activities such as airbrush tattoos, a collaborative mural, and the opportunity to submit ideas for the Youth Lead the Change participatory budgeting program.
