Boston: Grant Application Now Open
EntSun News/11088982
~ The Mayor's Office of Food Justice in Boston is taking steps to improve food security and accessibility for all residents. After gathering feedback from the community, the OFJ has decided to transition to a centralized enrollment model for their 2026 Summer Farmers Market Coupon Program.
To support this change, the OFJ is seeking a collaborative partner to manage the technical and logistical aspects of the transition. This move aims to create a single, transparent point of entry for residents and remove any barriers that may prevent them from accessing fresh, local produce.
In order to find a suitable partner, the OFJ is offering a grant of up to $44,000. This organization will be responsible for overseeing the centralized enrollment process, lottery selection, and distribution logistics for the 2026 Summer season. Their role will be crucial in ensuring that low-income residents have equal access to the program and receive clear updates on their application status.

The project will focus on three key pillars: technology and innovation, community management, and equity in action. The chosen partner will be tasked with building and launching a multilingual online enrollment platform as well as implementing a randomized lottery system. They will also serve as the primary communicator for applicants and provide logistical support to community-based sites throughout the city. Additionally, they must prioritize equity by allowing residents agency in choosing where they collect their coupons and providing accessible updates on their application status.
Organizations interested in becoming the centralized enrollment partner can apply by clicking on the link provided in the grant application: Farmers Market Centralized Enrollment Partner. The deadline for submissions is April 20th, 2026. For any questions or concerns, applicants can reach out to Charissa Zapata-Walker at charissa.zapatawalker@boston.gov or 617-635-3469.
The Mayor's Office of Food Justice is excited about potentially partnering with an organization that has both technical capacity and a strong commitment to serving the community. By streamlining the Farmers Market Coupon Program, they hope to make fresh, local produce more accessible to every neighborhood in Boston.
