EntSun News/11084459
~ As the city of Boston prepares for the upcoming Red Bull Cliff Snowboard Event, the Boston Transportation Department has announced that a section of Cambridge Street in front of City Hall will be closed to traffic on Saturday, February 21, 2026. This closure is at the request of the Boston Police Department in order to ensure the safety of event attendees.

The event, which will take place on City Hall Plaza, is expected to draw a large crowd. In order to alleviate traffic and parking concerns, attendees are encouraged to utilize alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, or taking public transit. Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website and information on the MBTA can be found online.

For those choosing to take public transit, the MBTA advises purchasing a round-trip ticket for a faster return trip. Walking is also a great option for getting around during this event.

In addition to street closures along Congress Street from 12pm to 6pm and some of Cambridge Street from 2-3pm, parking restrictions will also be in place throughout Saturday along Cambridge Street from Court Street to New Sudbury Street.

Meanwhile in Roslindale, drivers should be aware that the Canterbury Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Friday, September 12 at 9:00 p.m. This closure comes after findings from a recent bridge inspection deemed it necessary for safety reasons. Pedestrian access will still be available but drivers are advised to follow detour signage in place.

The primary detour route will utilize Hyde Park Avenue, Cummins Highway, Rowe Street, Brown Avenue and Seymour Street. Eastbound drivers should follow Seymour Street to Brown Avenue and then onto Cummins Highway while westbound drivers should take Hyde Park Avenue to Cummins Highway before turning onto Rowe Street and then Seymour Street.

Drivers traveling through these affected areas should expect delays and are reminded to reduce speed and use caution. The bridge will remain closed until further notice as MassDOT works to address the necessary repairs.
