Precision-Engineered S-Type Sound Levels Deliver an Aggressive Turbo Soundtrack and Optimized Flow Without Sacrificing Daily-Driver Comfort
OXNARD, Calif. - EntSun -- BORLA® Performance Industries, the pioneer in high-performance stainless steel exhaust systems, is excited to announce the launch of its S-Type Cat-Back™ exhaust line for the 2022-2025 Volkswagen Golf R (MK8).
Engineered to complement the sophisticated performance of the 2.0L turbocharged engine, this new system offers MK8 owners the perfect balance of an aggressive exterior growl and a refined interior experience.
Custom-Tuned for the MK8 Platform
The MK8 Golf R is the most powerful iteration of the Golf to date, but the factory exhaust note often leaves enthusiasts wanting more character. Borla engineers spent extensive R&D time specifically on the MK8 chassis to ensure the S-Type sound level delivers a deep, sporty tone that accentuates the turbo-four's personality without becoming overbearing.
Precision Engineering & Premium Finishes
The new system features a 3" pipe diameter that flows into a single muffler, splitting into quad 4" exhaust tips designed to perfectly fill the factory rear valence. To suit the aesthetic preference of every enthusiast, Borla is launching the system with three distinct tip finishes:

- Part #141029 (https://www.borla.com/products/volkswagen-golf-r-cat-back-exhaust-system-141029): Classic Bright Polished T-304 Stainless Steel tips.
- Part #141029BC (https://www.borla.com/products/volkswagen-golf-r-cat-back-exhaust-system-141029bc): Sleek Black Chrome over T-304 Stainless Steel.
- Part #141029SB (https://www.borla.com/products/volkswagen-golf-...): Stealth Black finish for a modern, aggressive look.
The Borla Technical Advantage
- T-304 Stainless Steel: Unlike inferior 409-grade steel used by many competitors, Borla uses premium austenitic T-304 stainless steel for maximum protection against corrosion and road salt.
- No-Drone Technology: Utilizing proprietary internal muffler geometry, the system cancels out the specific frequencies that cause cabin resonance, ensuring a comfortable ride at highway speeds.
- Flow Optimization: The straight-through design reduces backpressure, helping the turbocharger spool faster and increasing overall engine efficiency.
- Million-Mile Warranty: (https://www.borla.com/support/million-mile-warr...) We are so confident in our craftsmanship that every street system is backed by a warranty that outlasts the life of the vehicle.
