Bluestone Laundromat Makes a Difference in the Archbald Community
EntSun News/11104274
Our latest Laundry Love event brought Bluestone Laundromat, Northeast PA Area Health Education Center, and Marywood University together to provide free laundry services and support to neighbors who could use a little extra help.
ARCHBALD, Pa. - EntSun -- On Saturday, September 26, Bluestone Laundromat in Archbald, students in the Physician's Assistant program at Marywood University, and the Northeast PA Area Health Education Center (NEPA AHEC) came together for a Laundry Love event that provided 119 loads of laundry at no cost to members of Archbald and the surrounding Valley View community.
The event was about much more than washers and dryers. Laundry is an everyday necessity, but its cost can become another challenge for individuals and families already facing financial pressures. By covering the cost of washing, drying, and soap, Laundry Love events provide practical assistance while creating an opportunity for neighbors and community organizations to connect.

Laundry Love is a national movement that partners with local laundromats, schools, organizations, and community groups to provide free laundry services to low- and no-income individuals and families. Founded in 2003, the initiative is built around a simple idea: clean clothes and bedding contribute to dignity and well-being, and the laundromat can become a welcoming place where communities come together. Laundry Love reports that its network has provided more than 4 million loads of laundry and served more than 3 million people nationwide.
The September 26 event demonstrated what that mission can look like locally. This was the second event run at Bluestone Laundromat in Archbald. Through the collaboration of Bluestone Laundromat, NEPA AHEC, Marywood University, volunteers, and community participants, 119 loads of laundry were washed and dried free of charge in a single event.
The partnership also reflects the broader community focus of NEPA AHEC, which works with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and community organizations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, particularly around health education and medically underserved communities.

For the Bluestone Laundromat Group, Laundry Love is an opportunity to use something we do every day—laundry—to make a meaningful difference. A clean load of clothes may seem like a small thing, but eliminating that expense for someone who needs a little help can have an immediate impact.
We are grateful to the Northeast PA Area Health Education Center, the students at Marywood University, and everyone who helped make the September Laundry Love event possible. Bluestone Laundromat in Archbald is planning another Laundry Love event for October.
119 loads of laundry. One afternoon. One community helping its neighbors.
