Bloomington to Hold Earth Day Celebration April 18 at Switchyard Park

~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington is gearing up for its fourth annual Earth Day celebration, set to take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026. The event will be held at Switchyard Park and is expected to draw a large crowd from noon to 3:30 p.m.
The free and family-friendly event will feature live music performances by Busman's Holiday and Peyton Womock on the outdoor main stage. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a sand mandala community art project led by members of Artists for Climate Awareness.
In addition, the City's Parks and Recreation Department will be giving away free native tree seedlings on a first-come, first-served basis. Local group BinaryHeart, made up of Indiana University students, will also be present to collect donations of computers, laptops, and tablets to refurbish and distribute to schools and underserved communities.

Art for Earth Bloomington, a project of the Center for Sustainable Living, will be selling donated art to raise funds for environmental nonprofit organizations. Food trucks, lawn games made from upcycled materials, an electric vehicle display, face painting, various freebies, and booths hosted by local environmental and sustainability organizations will also be featured at the event.
Attendees can look forward to the Environmental Commission's 14th annual Linda P. Thompson Eco-Heroes Art Contest winners being recognized on the main stage at 1:15 p.m between music sets. The submitted artwork will also be on display inside the pavilion.
