BCOP invites community to step back in time for 80th anniversary celebration in Selly Park
EntSun News/11089366
Residents, families and the local community are being invited to save the date for a special 80th anniversary celebration at Neville Williams House in Selly Park.
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - EntSun -- BCOP (Broadening Choices for Older People), a Birmingham charity supporting older people across the city for 80 years, will host a nostalgic event titled:
"Step Back in Time: 80 Years of Dance"
📅 Tuesday 19th May
🕐 2 – 4pm
📍 Neville Williams House, Selly Park
The event will take guests on a joyful journey through the decades, celebrating the music, memories and milestones that have shaped the lives of BCOP residents over the past 80 years.
Our team will take residents, families and guests on a nostalgic journey through some of the most memorable dances of the past 80 years. From the playful steps of the Charleston to the energy of rock and roll, the fun of the Mashed Potato, and the crowd-favourite YMCA, there will be plenty of chances to reminisce, tap your feet and join in.

As part of the celebrations, BCOP is also launching a fundraising appeal to create a new Sensory Street at Neville Williams House—a dedicated space designed to support people living with dementia. The project aims to build a familiar, calming environment that can help reduce anxiety, stimulate memories and improve quality of life for local residents.
The new facility will directly benefit people in Selly Park and surrounding areas, providing a valuable local resource for individuals and families affected by dementia.
Helen Gore, CEO of BCOP, said: "Reaching 80 years is a significant milestone for our charity, and we're proud to celebrate it alongside the people at the heart of everything we do—our residents. At the same time, we are looking ahead, investing in environments that will make a real difference to people living with dementia in our local community."
Local residents, families and community members are warmly invited to attend. Details are on our website https://bcop.org.uk/event/step-back-in-time_at-neville-williams-house/
