The program gives Polk County residents the opportunity to pay overdue court fines and traffic citations in full while having additional collection agency surcharge fees waived. Those fees can add up significantly over time. An active bench warrant does not go away simply because a fine gets paid. These are two completely separate legal issues. The risk does not only apply inside the courthouse. If the vehicle being used to get there gets pulled over, every person inside is at risk. A passenger with an active warrant can be arrested just as easily as the driver.
