~ The Mesa Historical Museum is making history itself with the grand opening of the Arizona Baseball Museum, the first of its kind in the state. As a tribute to Arizona's rich baseball history, the museum is dedicated solely to showcasing the origins and evolution of the sport in the state.
Located in the historic Lehi Auditorium, visitors will be taken on a journey through time as they explore the early beginnings of baseball in Arizona. From military posts and mining towns to community teams and the rise of spring training, the museum highlights how baseball has become deeply ingrained in Arizona's culture.
One of the main focuses of the museum is on the birth of the Cactus League and how Arizona communities played a crucial role in making it a popular spring training destination. Through historic photographs, memorabilia, and personal stories, visitors will get an inside look at both well-known players and unsung heroes such as groundskeepers, team staff, local organizers, and fans who have all contributed to making baseball thrive in Arizona.
