Anern Introduces IMPORT-6 Framework for Solar Inverter Procurement
EntSun News/11097148
New framework helps global distributors evaluate solar inverter suppliers through technical documentation, battery compatibility, compliance review and lifecycle cost assessment
GUANGZHOU, China - EntSun -- As global solar PV and battery storage deployment continues to expand, solar inverter procurement is shifting from price-based comparison to evidence-based supplier evaluation.
In response to this market shift, Anern has introduced IMPORT-6, a procurement framework designed to help distributors, wholesalers, EPC contractors and project buyers evaluate solar inverter suppliers beyond purchase price. The framework focuses on technical documentation, battery compatibility, compliance evidence, sample validation, operating environment and after-sales readiness.
Anern is a China-based solar energy solutions manufacturer specializing in solar inverters, lithium batteries, solar storage systems and solar street lighting projects.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), global renewable power capacity reached 5,149 GW by the end of 2025, with solar PV accounting for a major share of new renewable capacity additions. The International Energy Agency (IEA) also expects solar PV to remain one of the leading contributors to renewable electricity expansion through 2030.
As solar projects increasingly combine PV generation, lithium batteries, backup power and hybrid energy management, the role of the solar inverter is becoming more complex. In many off-grid and hybrid systems, the inverter no longer serves only as a DC-to-AC conversion device. It also affects battery charging, PV input design, generator coordination, system stability, installation efficiency and after-sales service.
"Procurement today is no longer only about finding the lowest quotation," said a company spokesperson from Anern. "Distributors are paying closer attention to technical evidence, documentation quality, battery compatibility and long-term service capability before confirming orders."
IMPORT-6: A Structured Procurement Framework
The IMPORT-6 framework is designed to help buyers review six key procurement dimensions before importing solar inverters:
I — Intended Application: residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, telecom, backup or off-grid use
M — Market Compliance: certification documents, safety requirements, grid-interface documents and local approvals
P — PV Input Design: MPPT range, maximum PV voltage, PV current and string configuration
O — Operating Environment: temperature, humidity, dust, ventilation, altitude and installation conditions

R — Recharge & Battery Compatibility: battery voltage, BMS communication, RS485/RS232 interface and charging logic
T — Technical Support: user manuals, wiring diagrams, spare parts, warranty terms and after-sales workflow
Unlike traditional supplier comparison, IMPORT-6 encourages buyers to review the full lifecycle of a solar inverter, from product selection and installation to commissioning, service and long-term operating cost.
Anern notes that many procurement risks appear after shipment rather than during quotation. These risks may include battery communication failures, incorrect PV string design, insufficient surge capacity, incomplete installation guidance, missing model-specific documents or higher-than-expected after-sales support costs.
Distributor Demand and Regional Buying Trends
Based on Anern's distributor inquiries and export discussions, many purchasing requests currently concentrate between 3 kW and 16 kW. This range supports common applications including residential backup systems, rural electrification, telecom stations, farms, shops, workshops and light commercial projects.
Anern also observes regional differences in inverter demand. In South American residential markets, off-grid systems remain widely used, while hybrid solar inverter adoption continues to grow. In commercial and industrial projects across the region, off-grid and grid-connected systems remain common. In European-standard and IEC-oriented markets, hybrid systems are generally preferred for both residential and commercial storage applications.
These differences highlight the importance of selecting inverter models based on actual market demand, grid conditions, battery adoption, project type and installer capability.
Battery Compatibility and Documentation Become Critical
As lithium batteries become more common in solar energy systems, battery compatibility has become a key procurement issue. Anern emphasizes that compatibility should not be evaluated by voltage alone. Buyers should also verify battery communication interface, cable configuration, function settings and protocol compatibility before confirming bulk orders.
Where applicable, inverter and battery communication may involve RS485 or RS232 interfaces. However, communication with third-party lithium batteries should be confirmed by model and application rather than assumed.
"Battery communication has become one of the most important checks for hybrid solar inverter projects," the spokesperson added. "Resolving compatibility issues after installation can increase service cost and affect customer satisfaction. Distributors are better protected when compatibility is reviewed before shipment."

Anern also recommends that buyers request model-specific documents, including product datasheets, user manuals, wiring diagrams, certificates, test reports and local approval documents where applicable. For grid-interactive systems, buyers may need to review relevant safety and grid-related standards such as IEC 62109-1, IEC 62109-2, IEC 62116 and IEC 61727, depending on local market requirements.
Sample Validation and After-Sales Planning
Anern recommends that sample testing reflect real project conditions instead of only basic output checks. Relevant validation may include MPPT performance, surge capacity, battery communication, generator interaction, operating temperature and installation procedures.
According to Anern's technical information, selected inverter specifications include surge capability of approximately two times rated output power for five seconds, operating temperature from -10°C to +50°C, and storage temperature from -15°C to +60°C. MPPT parameters vary by model and should be verified against the actual PV string design.
Anern's service experience also shows that after-sales issues are often connected not only to product quality, but also to system matching, installation quality, operating environment and documentation review. Issues such as main-board replacement after abnormal overload or electrical stress, as well as excessive operating noise in certain environments, highlight the importance of correct sizing, ventilation, wiring, surge-capacity verification and installer training.
Looking Beyond Unit Price
To help distributors evaluate suppliers more realistically, Anern recommends considering lifecycle procurement cost instead of FOB price alone.
The company refers to this approach as Landed Reliability Cost, which considers unit price, freight, import duty, certification review, sample testing, warranty reserve, spare parts inventory and estimated after-sales cost against usable AC output.
A supplier with a higher initial quotation may deliver lower long-term cost if it provides stronger documentation, clearer compatibility support, faster after-sales response and lower warranty risk.
As solar PV and battery storage deployments continue to expand, Anern expects solar inverter procurement to become increasingly evidence-based. Distributors that combine technical validation with lifecycle cost evaluation may be better positioned to reduce installation risk, improve customer satisfaction and build more sustainable long-term business growth.
