AdaptivLyfe Asks a Different Question: What If Disabled People Designed the Wellness App?
EntSun News/11088668
GRESHAM, Ore. - EntSun -- Most wellness apps start with workouts and streaks. AdaptivLyfe started with a question: what would a wellness and health platform look like if disabled and neurodivergent people were the ones in the center of the room when it was built, instead of on the sidelines?
Lift Eachother Empowerment, a nonprofit co-founded by Nick Justice and Zach VanStory, created AdaptivLyfe as a direct response to that question. Developed by Zach VanStory, the app brings together adaptive movement, mental health support, focus tools, nutrition features, and sensory experiences for people whose bodies, brains, and daily lives do not match traditional wellness assumptions.
"Design meetings usually start with an 'average user' that many of us have never met in real life," said VanStory. "AdaptivLyfe started with wheelchair users, autistic adults, people with ADHD, chronic pain, and sensory needs. The app is a reflection of their realities, not an exception to them."

Inside AdaptivLyfe, users find adaptive ways to move, rest, and plan their days. Movement options are built to be flexible — from seated routines to sensory-friendly sessions — and are supported by an AI-powered planner that adjusts to each person's abilities, goals, and energy levels. Guided meditations, a Body Doubling focus companion, and a Self Care Genie help users build sustainable self-care around real schedules that may include caregiving, appointments, and fluctuations in health.
AdaptivLyfe also pays attention to how technology itself feels. Visual contrast, dyslexia-friendly text, larger tap targets, reduced motion options, and screen-reader-friendly layouts are built in as part of the core experience. The goal is not simply to add accessibility on top, but to make the app feel calmer, clearer, and more usable for people with visual, cognitive, and motor differences.

Beyond individual features, AdaptivLyfe is tied to Lift Eachother Empowerment's wider mission. The nonprofit works to create community spaces, storytelling, and resource-sharing for people with disabilities and neurodivergence, with AdaptivLyfe serving as a digital hub where those efforts come together.
To reduce cost as a barrier, the app includes a free tier with key tools and the AdaptivLift scholarship program, which can provide premium access at no cost to qualifying users. This structure reflects the organization's belief that access to wellness support should not be determined by income alone.
AdaptivLyfe is available as a web-based and installable experience at https://adaptivlyfe.app designed to run on phones, tablets, and computers and to work alongside common assistive technologies. The launch adds a new voice to the growing movement calling for technology that does not just "include" disabled people, but begins with them.
