EntSun News/11086727
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - In an effort to combat the opioid crisis and save lives, the City of Columbia has installed 24/7 naloxone distribution boxes at various locations throughout the city. These boxes, which resemble newspaper stands, are free for anyone to use in the event of an overdose.
The naloxone distribution boxes can be found at 12 different locations, including all nine fire stations in Columbia. Other locations include the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC), Flat Branch Park, and the Public Health and Human Services building. The boxes will be refilled weekly or as needed to ensure a constant supply of naloxone.

Funding for this project comes from a contract between Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The contract number is 5H79TI086392-03.
