19 Graduate from Supervision of Peer Based Recovery Support Services

PALM COAST, Fla. - EntSun -- Flagler OARS (Open Arms Recovery Services) hosted a free, comprehensive two-day training on Supervision of Peer-Based Recovery Support Services, helping strengthen the local recovery workforce while removing a major cost barrier for participants.

The training, held Feb. 11–12 at SMA Healthcare in Bunnell, graduated 19 participants and provided 11 continuing education units (CEUs). Comparable trainings can cost about $1,500 per person, making the opportunity a significant value for current and aspiring peer supervisors.

The program covered integrating peer support in multidisciplinary teams, supporting peer roles in person-centered planning, cross-cultural supervision, ethics and boundaries, and self-care and wellness. The training was led by Ed Johnson, a licensed professional counselor and addiction counselor supervisor.

The event was made possible through community partnerships. SMA Healthcare provided the training space, and The Recovery Village and WhiteSands Treatment sponsored food for attendees. Community Coalition Alliance supported CEU processing. The Opioid Response Network coordinated the event and covered the trainer cost, estimated at $3,000.
