Springfield: City Reschedules Storm Debris Volunteer Day to July 24
EntSun News/11065677
~ Springfield, MO - The City of Springfield has announced a rescheduled date for its community-wide Clean Green SGF Storm Debris Volunteer Day. Originally planned for July 17, the event will now take place on Thursday, July 24. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of volunteers, as severe weather was forecasted for the original date.
The purpose of the volunteer day remains the same - to assist residents who are physically unable to move storm debris to the curb. This effort is separate from the Public Works debris pickup schedule and is specifically aimed at helping those who may not have the means to do so themselves.
Residents who have already signed up to receive assistance will remain on the list and do not need to re-register. However, those who had previously registered will receive a confirmation email to check availability for the new date. Volunteer sign-ups are still open for both groups and individuals at www.CleanGreenSGF.com.
Due to the postponement, Public Works neighborhood debris sweeps (debris removal) will also be shifted to begin after the volunteer event. The new schedule is as follows: Zone 1 - August 11-15, Zone 3 - August 18-22, Zone 2 - August 25-29, and Zone 4 - September 1-5. Residents in these zones do not need to register for debris pickup but are asked to make sure that only organic debris (limbs, branches, brush) is placed at the curbside without blocking sidewalks or driveways.

It is important for residents wanting debris removed in August and September to note that only natural/organic vegetative debris will be collected and no registration is needed for pickup. Debris should be placed at the curb or nearest accessible location, without blocking sidewalks or driveways, and must be ready by 7 a.m. on the first day of their City Council Zone's scheduled pickup week.
This volunteer effort is part of the City's ongoing response to the April 29 and June 19 storms, which caused widespread tree damage and infrastructure impacts across Springfield. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, visit www.CleanGreenSGF.com. Residents with questions can also call the Citizen Resource Center at 417-864-1010.
The City of Springfield is grateful for the community's support and willingness to come together to help those in need during this challenging time. By working together, we can make a positive impact on our city and help our fellow residents recover from these devastating storms.
